Name: Kevin Location: Singapore Living in an urban concrete jungle the likes of Singapore means it is unlikely one can experience a slice of nature close to home. Yes, perhaps man made greenery abounds in the city, but natural landscapes are lacking in our space constrained island nation. I have always been fascinated about the idea of lumberjacks and mountain lodges. And I am a huge fan of the mid-century era, where fashion and design were at its purest.

Name: Howard Kurtzman ; Painter at Howard of Howard Location: Virginia Highlands; Atlanta, Georgia Size: 950 square feet Years lived in: 10 years; Owned One magical night, I happened to find myself in a room filled with people and fantastic curiosities. In awe of all the color and detail, I began asking each person in the crowd if they owned this whimsical home, and each one simply replied, “No, it belongs to Howard,” as if he were the Wizard of Oz himself.

Name: Kristin Sears Location: Bushwick Neighborhood, Brooklyn, NYC Bushwick was recently on Vogue‘s list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world, and I’m lucky enough to call it my new home. I am from Kentucky and recently graduated from school in Savannah, Georgia… needless to say it was going to be a big adjustment moving to New York City. That’s the main reason why I chose Bushwick and my apartment in particular: It feels like home… all 300 square feet of it.

Name: Melissa, an artist, and Ramzy, a military physician Location: Victoria, BC, Canada Size: 1400 square feet Years lived in: Owned 1.5 years When Melissa submitted a few photos for a house call a few weeks ago, we knew we were going to need a longer look of this space. The whole space is filled with eclectic pieces that have a story, topped off with gorgeous natural light. But though the space is full of fun and interesting things to look at, it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Name: Stephanie Location: Point Dume -Malibu, California My husband and I decided to relocate to Malibu, California a year ago so that our young children could grow up close to the ocean. Having spent a lot of time in Sweden as a child, I have developed a strong affinity for nordic design. Scandinavian homes have a pure, understated elegance that is centered around clean lines, warm functionality and minimal ornamentation.

Name: Sybil Domond + Daniel Lessin Location: Greenpoint; Brooklyn, New York Size: 900 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; Owned You didn’t misread the headline; this home is in Brooklyn. And just like the borough that it is located in, it is a composite of places near and far. Sybil and Dan are the husband and wife powerhouse duo behind Greenpoint’s People of 2Morrow vintage apparel and gift boutique.

Name: Danielle Bellert Location: Between Wallingford and Fremont; Seattle, Washington Size: 400 square feet Years lived in: 4 years; Rented What would you do with 400 square feet of space? If you’re anything like Danielle Bellert, you would style it up adorably and live with intent. Located between the bustling neighborhoods of Wallingford and Fremont in Seattle, this tiny cottage is a one-room wonder, complete with lofted bedroom.

Name: Duffy Stone Location: Austin, Texas This is a red barn-style, 1930s home located in East Austin, Texas. I rent the home and have loved mixing in bright colors and modern found objects into the old bones and architecture of the home. I love the old wood floors and high ceilings that make the small home feel bright and open. There are two large porches I love to hang out on with friends and a hammock pavilion!

Name: Britain Spinney Location: Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois My boyfriend and I live in a one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Logan square that is about 600 square feet. We didn’t have much time to find an apartment and we had been traveling back and forth from Minnesota to find one. We already loved the location of this place and once we learned the building was a converted old hotel, we both decided this was the one!

 Years lived in: 2 years; Owned Chad James is a Nashville architectural consultant & interior designer with a bit of a reputation. Not the kind of reputation your mother warned you about acquiring, but the kind that lands you some of the most exciting design projects this side of the Mississippi. As the principle of Chad James Group, he’s designed spaces all over the world.

Name: Vanessa Faye Wurman and her dogs Solomon and The Dude Location: Jamestown, Rhode Island Size: 1,300 square feet Years lived in: 15 years; owned You don’t even have to enter Vanessa’s home to know that it’s not your typical seaside cottage. Unique bullseye glass details embellish bright green doors and custom-designed bamboo fencing. A horse made of rusty metal tools grazes on the front lawn.

Name: Desanka N. Fasiska Location: Hollywood Hills; Los Angeles, California Size: 832 square feet. The property has a lot size of 2,454 square feet. Years Lived In: One; owned. Welcome to Lux Lodge, the inspirational Hollywood Hills home of artist, fashion consultant, and designer, Desanka N. Fasiska. A 1963 A-frame home redesigned by Desanka, it’s filled with her discerning creative touches.

Name: Sophia and Sebastian Black Location: Washington DC Size: 3,000 square feet Years lived in: 28 years owned The Blacks have the type of house that engages even the passersby. Sophia and Sebastian built their house in the late eighties on a beautiful and coveted piece of land overlooking a valley; the house itself has as much artfulness as the spaces inside. [Even while I was there for this house tour, two pedestrians happened to stop and tell the homeowners how much they loved the house!
